Choosing the right type of hair

Hair grades

We would always recommend choosing the highest hair grade that you can get and afford as your choice will determine the hair's lifespan.

2A – 3A – lifespan of 2-3 months

4A – 5A – lifespan of 6 months

6A – 7A – lifespan of up to 9 months

8A – lifespan of up to 18 months, lighter shades 12 months

9A – lifespan of up to 24 months, lighter shades 18 months

We also recommend using double-drawn hair (same thickness from the top of the hair shaft to the bottom).

Avoid hair that doesn’t have the label ‘Remy’ as it may have damaged cuticles, could be single drawn and over processed.

- FADES quickly and tangles.

Hair loss specialist/crown system

This system is designed for women with moderate or severe hair loss or thinning.

The mesh/meshless integration system is constructed from a breathable mesh and integrated onto your existing hair, without the need to cut or shave off any of your natural hair.

The system is designed to fit comfortably on the top of your existing hair secured with silicone-lined micro rings. Closures, toppers and wefts are then attached to the micro rings to create a discreet and very real-looking head of hair.

This system enables you to wash, brush and style your new hair as you would normally, giving you a great confidence boost.

Nano rings hair extensions

The process of fitting nano ring hair extensions involves placing individual strands on small sections of hair and securing them with a metal nano ring. The nano ring itself (as the name suggests) is tiny and 90% smaller than a traditional micro ring, which is why it is often more suitable for those with finer hair.

The main advantage of the nano rings is that the bonds are incredibly small, this makes them much easier to conceal even when the hair is thin and sparse.

They do not require heat or glue to secure them, meaning they will be kinder and gentler on the hair. When it’s time to remove them, they won’t require the solution remover, unlike some other hair extension methods. The nanos are removed and replaced with new ones. This method lasts about 6-12 weeks.

Pros; Hair can move in all directions and they're very natural looking.

Cons; Due to the movement can mat easily, takes a long time for fitting. Sometimes the rings may slip out of the hair, if pulled or brushed incorrectly.

Tape in hair extensions

The tape-in method of application uses skin wefts, which are natural looking and almost undetectable. You almost don’t feel them, as they lay flat on your head and they are very thin. Small wefts of hair are “taped” in, using a strip of keratin protein that is included on each extension. The protein is pressed together, which bonds the weft to your natural hair.

The tape-in hair extensions can be reapplied by attaching a new piece of tape that replaces the old one. A solution is applied to the tape to aid removal. Since the layer of tape is so thin, this method of hair extension lasts about 8 weeks.

Pros; These are one of the quickest methods of hair extensions to fit and easiest to maintain

Cons; Hair can only move up and down in the directions they’re been attached to the hair

Hair weft extensions

Hair weft is a full line of hair extensions, they come in single or double thickness.

A whole line of hair extensions are sewn into your hair using a thread that matches the colour of your roots, the thread then becomes camouflage and the roots of the extensions can not be seen.

Sew-in extensions are becoming one of the most popular methods on the market today, they are also less expensive than other extensions.

They can be done on short hair and most suited for thicker hair. This method lasts about 6-8 weeks. On removal the hair is simply un-treaded and redone, no solutions are applied.

Pros; cheaper than other extensions, bulkier and fuller look

Cons; can be very heavy and have been know to cause headaches.
